We recently hosted an academic retreat at Goldberry Woods for a group of 22 graduate students and researchers, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish.
The Barn provided an ideal meeting space—spacious, full of natural light, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The hospitality from Eric, Julie, and their team was warm, attentive, and made coordinating logistics effortless.
Between working sessions, our group loved being able to step outside and explore the flower gardens, orchards, and walking trails along the river. A real highlight was our tour of the grounds and a hands-on flower arranging class, which was both fun and educational. We also admired their genuine commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious stewardship across the property.
The location is another huge plus, situated in a quiet area with quick, convenient access to Lake Michigan and Warren Dunes State Park. Goldberry Woods struck the perfect balance between focused group productivity and a refreshing natural getaway. We would gladly return and highly recommend it!

Goldberry Woods is a charming experience, beautiful retreat and home away from home! We were always treated with sincere kindness and felt at ease. And their breakfast is like no other! They also take dietary restrictions very seriously while maintaining a variety of options! Goldberry Woods is the place to be if you're looking to surround yourself with nature and serenity! We will certainly return for our anniversary!

We just concluded a 33 person family reunion and all I can say is that this location at Goldberry is phenomenal. It provided everything that any person aged 1 through 100 would want to do in a beautiful setting close to Lake Michigan and Union Pier

We had the best time ever and here’s a poem I wrote
Let me tell you about the story of the great Sugar frenzy
It happened way out
at Golden Berry
It was in the summer of 26
The kids all had marshmallows
on their sticks
It was crazy mayhem and s’more’s galore
And wouldn’t you know
they all wanted more!
There were sticks a flying
And kiddos crying
But let me tell you there was no denying
Everybody had such a dang good time
It was a sugar frenzy for the ages
Anymore and they would’ve had to be put in cages!
If I didn’t see it for myself, I wouldn’t believe em
Some poor s’mores hit the floor
And boy there was grieving
But at the end, it was all OK
It was the sweetest end to the sweetest
Day
We can’t wait to come back and we’re all in a hurry for our next Sugar frenzy out at Golden Berry
Golden Berry Golden Berry
Yeah, we’re all in a hurry to come back to Golden Berry
