We had a wonderful stay at the Addison on Amelia Island over Labor Day weekend! What blew us away was its location, as you can step out of your door and be less than a 5 minute walk to Centre Street and a bunch of great restaurants. We would recommend The Addison to anyone who is looking for an Amelia Island getaway!

We booked our two-night stay about 4–6 weeks in advance, when the reviews for the inn were overwhelmingly positive, so we were really looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately, our experience fell short, although I do want to acknowledge that the inn had just changed ownership a few days before our arrival, which may have contributed to some of the issues we experienced.
We were celebrating a birthday and our babymoon, and had booked a complimentary birthday package that included champagne and a restaurant gift card. The new team was helpful in arranging a dinner reservation for us, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, our first evening was largely spent dealing with a lack of hot water in our room. We stayed in Room 2. We notified the staff around 4:00 p.m., and we were assured that it would be fixed by that night. But when we returned from dinner around 9:15 p.m., the issue still had not been resolved. We ultimately waited until nearly 10:00 p.m. while the staff continued troubleshooting, with a plumber scheduled for the following morning. Given that the inn had only three of its twelve rooms occupied that night, we were surprised that moving us to another room was never offered. We also received no offer of any accommodation for the inconvenience. The champagne that was part of our package was also forgotten that evening and only offered to us the following night.
The next morning, breakfast was another example of what felt like a general lack of communication and attention to detail. Breakfast was supposed to begin at 8:30, but there was no one available to greet guests or explain where to sit or how the breakfast service worked. The breakfast itself was fine, but it was promoted as a special part of the inn experience and unfortunately did not feel particularly special. The portions were quite small, there was no buffet or option to help ourselves to additional servings, and there was no offer of seconds or anything else if we were still hungry. Essentially, what was served was what we received. It felt more like a basic continental-style hotel breakfast, simply served on nicer dishes, rather than an elevated inn breakfast.
None of the staff were particularly rude, and I don’t think the issue was a lack of effort so much as a lack of communication, consistency, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, those things made a significant difference in our experience, especially because this was a special trip for us. We ultimately felt that we would have received a more reliable overall experience at a larger hotel for considerably less money. At a property in this price range—our two-night stay was nearly $700—we expected a much more attentive and seamless level of hospitality.
I’m leaving this review in the hope that it is helpful to the new ownership. The inn has a lot of potential, and hopefully as the new team settles in, these details and the level of guest communication will improve.

The Addison on Amelia Island exceeded expectations across three separate stays with three different groups of guests, and every single one came away raving about it.
The rooms were consistently well-appointed and comfortable, breakfast was a genuine highlight each morning rather than an afterthought, and the staff made every group feel personally welcomed. The location is excellent: close enough to Amelia Island's downtown main street that guests could walk in and explore shops and restaurants without needing a car. The complimentary bikes were a nice touch and got good use from everyone who stayed there.
One small detail that stuck with all three groups: a friendly black lab greets you at the front door. It's the kind of small touch that sets a proper bed and breakfast apart from a hotel and makes the place feel like a home rather than a transaction.
Highly recommend The Addison to anyone visiting Amelia Island. It delivers on every front: comfort, hospitality, location, and character.
