This is a beautiful historic home located in an idyllic setting, close to the beach and just minutes from the Crane Estate. The property itself is charming, well-maintained, and full of character. Unfortunately, the experience did not justify the price. My single-night, midweek stay totaled $615 with taxes, which felt far too expensive for what was offered. While the breakfast was excellent, it alone was not enough to warrant the hefty cost. I stayed in the Higinbotham Room, which was advertised as having a king bed. In reality, it was two twin beds pushed together. One side squeaked with nearly every movement, and both mattresses were extremely firm, lumpy, and very uncomfortable, resulting in a terrible night's sleep. Additionally, there was a large gap beneath the room door that allowed significant light from the hallway to flood into the room throughout the night. I eventually got up and rolled a towel under the door to block the light. Lastly, take caution- the hot water is extremely hot. Test the temperature before taking a shower. While the property is undeniably beautiful and the location is excellent, the uncomfortable bed and overall value simply did not match the premium price tag.
