It pains me to write anything negative about this beautiful hotel in Mystic CT. The property and rooms are amazing, as is the location. The restaurant the Shipwright’s Daughter was phenomenal for dinner. It’s a premium property with an ultra-premium price, which I get since the annual art festival is happening all around us. But I do want to call out that for such a premium price, you would think that the service & amenities would be premium as well. Sadly, they are NOT. We upgraded to the Stanton House, 1 bedroom suite. It’s the newest building on the property. The elevator didn’t work all weekend, and we had to lug all our luggage up/down 2 flights of stairs. We were NOT told when we made the reservation about it, nor were we offered any credit or concession for the inconvenience. Also, they don’t lock the door to the building which was a safety hazard. Lastly, there were few amenities offered. No wine happy hour, no breakfast etc. not their business model apparently, but at $1500/night, we were surprised at how little was included in the ultra premium price. Again, it’s a wonderful hotel in a gorgeous town…and we had planned this trip for a year. If only the little things had been more thoughtfully cared for, this would have been a very different review.

We had a great experience at the Whaler’s Inn. Our room was nicely decorated and the cleaning staff did an excellent job with it. We really appreciated getting to sit out in the porch rocking chairs at night. We did struggle with consistently finding a parking spot however, and it’s unclear if the hotel has enough spots for the amount of rooms they have.
