I have come here over a dozen times over the past three years for work. I have to say it is one of the main things I look forward to when I’m there. It’s a home away from home. This is not your average hotel. Every detail is thought of and personalized from the coffee in the morning to the beautiful seating areas with fireplace to hallways lined with stunning art , and the porch swing an outdoor fire area. The rooms (and tub ) are so comfortable. The beds and linens are amazing. The robe is bar-none! It’s close to everything seaside, and the restaurant there is phenomenal - Believe me, the pork chop is life-changing 😍 But the very best aspect of this very special place is the people. I may not go there again, and my heart breaks a little saying that because I really have grown so fond of them. I can’t say how much I appreciate having smiling caring faces when you’re away from home. This is a must stop if you’re anywhere in the Boston area.

Don’t rent the cottage unless you are physically able and willing to climb a ridiculously steep staircase with ladder-like treads. Very impractical. Cannot get a suitcase up there to the only two bedrooms in the cottage. Would not recommend for elderly, obese, or family with young children.

This place is very peaceful and quiet with top class rooms and bathrooms which are very clean and well maintained. Billie Sue is a fabulous member of staff who has a brilliant team of people around her producing an excellent place for functions as well as the brief holiday breaks.

Staying at Briar Barn Inn has been an amazing experience. I stayed for several nights for a business trip and the Inn was recommended by a coworker. I chose to make the reservation and eventual changes due to a cancelled flight over the phone, which was answered by very friendly, patient, and understanding staff. My check-in after a long full day at work was simple and relaxed, and I was greeted by a very warm, welcoming atmosphere. I booked a single king bed room, but was surprised by how large it is. It has a separate sitting area with a gas fireplace and TV. Even though I didn't use those because I just wanted to sleep at the end of the days, it was still a nice touch and plenty of space to sit down my luggage. What was even more impressive was the cleanliness of the hotel and the room. It not only showed that there had been recent renovations, it was kept in pristine condition. The close proximity to Ipswich where my daily meetings were was an added benefit.

Every staff I interacted with were genuinely caring and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and memorable. When I arrived early they made a great suggestion for lunch and when I wanted to watch the best place to watch a sunset, they suggested Plum Island and it was spectacular! I loved that you had a tea kettle and excellent teas! This is a home-like environment with lovely amenities. I was very tired upon arriving and rested by the pool. The next day after a restful sleep and a relaxing tub soak, I was refreshed for the last leg of my journey home. This was my second stay and I give you 5 stars this time. Can't wait to try you again in the Fall!
